Photo Imaging Course

If you want to learn how to take perfect photo and are interested in exploring the magical world of Photoshop, this course is for you! We’ve got some outstanding tutors with decades of professional experience between them, all ready to help you build your skills and knowledge. Ian Usher

A keen photographer, Ian has developed and taught on several photographic online courses. He supports Buckinghamshire county schools and advisers in all aspects of online learning including virtual learning environments (VLEs), learning platforms, videoconferencing, digital creativity and remote collaboration. Ian also provides training across the UK on the use of Moodle, Adobe Connect, and Breeze in schools and has been an Adobe Education Leader since 2004.

Ross Wallis

Ross Wallis

Ross has taken a leading role in exploring digital creativity since the late 1980s. He is recognised as an effective, enthusiastic, and inspirational teacher to students as well as other instructors, able to demonstrate that Adobe digital tools provide more than simply a means to create great images. He encourages learners to consider their own creativity – to focus on the kind of art they want to create – and then use digital imaging tools to easily express those creative ideas.

Alys studied at the University of Leeds and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She is based in London and combines commissioned work for editorial, design and advertising clients with personal work, which she publishes and exhibits.

Paul Smith

Matt Burgess

Matt is a British photographer working primarily with agencies and design clients to provide corporate, marketing and advertising imagery. Some of his recent commissions have come from Farrow and Ball, Caterpillar and Mercedes Benz.

Elaine Duigenan

Elaine Duigenan

Elaine is a photographic artist based in London. She has exhibited internationally and has work in collections which include the V&A and The Museum of Fine Art in Houston. Her work is represented by Klompching Gallery in New York. Alongside making her own series of work for exhibition, she undertakes artist residencies and works alongside institutions such as Wellcome Collection to devise and deliver special projects. In late 2009 one of her images was flown to space by Astronaut Leland Melvin on the Space Shuttle Atlantis.

Colin Maxwell

Colin Maxwell

Colin teaches photography and digital design at Carnegie College in Scotland. He worked as a crime-scene photographer and as a self employed photographer before he moved into digital imaging after discovering Adobe Photoshop in 1994. As well as photography and digital imaging courses, Colin teaches animation, video effects and game design.

Marc Aspland

Marc is the Chief Sports Photographer for The Times and has covered the Olympic Games since Barcelona 1992, the FIFA World Cup Finals: France '98, South Korea & Japan 2002, Germany '06 and South Africa 2010, FA Cup Finals since 1988 and also the Wimbledon Final in the same year. Marc has also covered a host of Open Golf Championships, World Athletics, Formula 1 and 6 Nations Rugby. Rugby World Cup since 1991 to New Zealand in 2011.

Animation Course

If you want to learn how to create stunning 2D animations, develop cutting edge digital skills, and meet some of the world’s greatest animators – this course is for you. We'll introduce you to all aspects of 2D animation, with a new theme and animation expert in every class. You’ll develop a working knowledge of Adobe® Flash and Adobe® After Effects and will produce your own animated short film.

A computer arts and digital design teacher, Colin specialises in interactive multimedia. He has produced animations, eLearning materials, websites, and games using Adobe© Flash© software, including a computer game to help promote teamwork and employability skills, and Ruftoon Zoo, a short television animation.

Greg Hodgson

Greg Hodgson

Greg has been teaching new media since the late nineties. He is a board member of the National Society of Education for Art and Design, is the founder of Edge Gain Ltd, and is the executive producer for Adobe Generation. Greg also regularly advises, presents, and trains on the best ways to implement digital media in the classroom.

Shay Hamias

Israeli born, Shay is a freelance Animation Director working for the Soho based production company Th1ng, mainly on adverts and television branding. With a BA in communication design and an MA from the National Film and Television school specialising in animation direction, he has a lot of experience behind him. Some of Shay’s work includes the design and animation direction for the title sequence of Tim Burton’s film Sweeney Todd as well as Oxfam campaigns and MTV ident. Shay has also done work for the BBC and M&S.

Joseph Norman

Jo originally studied Fine Art, but turned the corner when he got his first computer, in 2003. Since completing his MA in Animation at The University of Glamorgan in 2009, Jo has worked on a range of creative animated projects, starting in the creation of a 2d and 3d digital video for the band ‘The Method’. More recently Jo has set up ‘Furry Tree Studios’ in Brighton and is currently working on several animated e-learning commissions for schools, as well as an animated serious game idea which is in development. The company is focused on using animation creatively, exploring narrative and abstract imagery in an innovative and original way.

Mike splits his time between teaching at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and directing and designing commercials. He animated A-Ha's epic MTV hit Take On Me and directed a string of MTV hits, including Grammy Award winning Opposites Attract (Paula Abdul). Mike has directed award-winning spots for clients including Intel and Reebok and his short, Commuter, is in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection.

Brigitta Hosea

Artist and animator Birgitta is course director of the Postgraduate Diploma in Character Animation at Central Saint Martins. She also organises Adobe Inspired Media, a post-production user group at the Curzon Cinema in London's Soho. As an Adobe Certified Expert, Brigatta freelances as a demonstration artist for Adobe, an animator, and a digital animation consultant. Her recent client list includes BBC, Cartoon Network, Disney Interactive, Saatchi & Saatchi, and Sky.

David Bunting

David studied Visual Effects at Walt Disney Feature Animation in France, followed by Feature Film Storyboarding at Aardman Animations. His credits include: effects animation on Disney's The Tigger Movie (2000) and the title sequence of Thunderbirds (2004) for Nexus Productions, storyboarding at Aardman Animations on Shaun the Sheep series 2 (2008) and producing the multi-award winning 4mations Digital short, The Astronomers Sun (2010) for Duchy Parade Films. David also teaches in primary, secondary and higher education and delivers CPD training to school teachers and museum educators.

Once you’ve completed the Adobe Generation Animation course, you will be able to:

Games Design Course

If you love gaming, and would love the chance to learn how to design and build your own games – this is the course for you! You'll learn all about what makes games fun, from the experts who create them. You'll discover how to create rules and boundaries, develop stories, invent challenges and control characters. You'll also learn the basics of coding. This is a unique opportunity to discover the tricks of the trade and create your very own games along the way – so don't miss out.

Mark is a new media designer and lecturer at Bournemouth University. His career has taken him through web design, back-end programming and art direction for an international magazine publisher. He has also presented papers on Serious Games, produced a Serious Game to train health care professionals, and has been sponsored by Vodafone UK to produce a mobile learning game with children.

Greg created and directs the Come Out & Play festival of street games.

Colleen Macklin

Colleen Macklin is a game designer, an Associate Professor in the school of Art, Media and Technology at Parsons The New School for Design and Director of PETLab (Prototyping Education and Technology Lab), a lab focused on developing games for experimental learning and social engagement. PETLab projects include curricula in game design for the Boys and Girls Club and via the website activategames.org, a set of disaster preparedness games with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre, and big games such as Re:Activism and the "fiscal" sport Budgetball. She is a member of the game design collective Local No. 12, best known for their collectible card game, the Metagame and The Leisure Society, a group exploring games and experimental narrative. Her work has been shown at Come Out and Play, UCLA Art|Sci Center, The Whitney Museum for American Art and Creative Time. BFA, Media Arts Pratt Institute, graduate studies in Computer Science, CUNY and International Affairs, The New School.

Once you've completed the Adobe Gaming course, you will be able to:

  • Be able to critique and analyse computer games
  • Understand the work flow to create a functioning computer game
  • Create elements of games, including sprites, backgrounds and storyboards
  • Be able to author code to control functions in Adobe Flash
