You want to help your child make the right decision, especially when it comes to learning. To give you a hand, we’ve created this collection of useful FAQs to tell you everything you need to know about Adobe Generation – from costs to homework.

Will my child receive any form of certification?

Yes, they will receive an Adobe certificate in a PDF format after completing the course. They will also receive a digital badge that can be uploaded to their website to show visitors that they have completed the course.

Can my child do more than one Adobe Generation course?

Students can sign up for as many courses as they like, we do however encourage them to ensure that they can complete the course(s) they sign up to given their existing school and personal commitments.

How are the courses structured?

Each course is carefully structured to make learning engaging and understandable. There is a set syllabus, with a different topic each week, along with carefully planned homework assignments and a predefined list of specific learning outcomes.

Who teaches the courses?

The courses are taught by a range of experienced industry and teaching professionals, each with a proven track-record of delivering online learning through Adobe® Connect™. The course is also supported by distinguished guest speakers, from the creative industries.

How much do Adobe Generation courses cost?

Nothing, all Adobe Generation courses are free.

Will I need to purchase Adobe software for the course?

No. Each course gives students a free 60 day trial to the Adobe software required for their course. This trial version is only valid for Adobe Generation students.

How will my child benefit from this course?

Adobe Generation is a great way for your child to experience life as a creative. As well as developing technical skills in their chosen subject, they’ll also learn practical, work-based skills that will help prepare them for employment. They’ll also be rewarded with an Adobe certification.

Does my child need my permission to do this course?

If your child is under 16 years, they will need your permission to join this course. You will also need to confirm that you are happy for your child to receive course-related emails. Students aged 16 years and over do not require parental permission.

Will my child be expected to do homework on this course?

Yes, approximately 1.5 hours per week.

How does this differ from what they learn at school?

Adobe Generation provides two key benefits to students. First are the technical skills they learn in their chosen field (e.g. using colour), second are the life and work skills they acquire along the way (e.g. critiquing work). Whilst some of these skills may overlap with the curriculum, it will only strengthen their confidence and ability. Beyond this, the opportunity to learn from practicing creatives – some of the best in the world – is a unique opportunity.

Is Adobe Generation for me?

If you’re a budding creative, from 14 years to 19 years old, Adobe Generation is for you! Students of art, design, media or ICT will find these courses really useful and if you’re thinking about a career in game design, animation, video art or photography, we’d definitely recommend them.

How will I know which course to choose?

You should think about what best suits your creative interests – our Photo Imaging is great for budding photographers, while future web designers might prefer our Animation course. If computer games are your thing then the Games Design Course is a must.

How long will each course take?

Each course is nine weeks long. You will have to attend a one hour class every week online, as well as do one and a half hours of homework weekly.

Can I do the courses at another date?

Yes, courses are available after the course is actually running and can be accessed and viewed at any time.

Can I do this course if I am over 19 years of age?

Yes, anyone can register and do the courses. The courses are design to cater for beginners and move them through the levels to become competent creative by the time the course finishes.

What happens if I miss a class, can I catch up?

Yes, classes are available at all times and can be caught up in your own time.

How do I register to become a student?

Select the Student Register button (top right corner of this page) and complete the registration form. You will receive a confirmation email with your secure login details and instructions of how to access the learning management system where the courses will take place.

Can I attend a course if I am not living in the UK?

Yes, we welcome all creatives to take our courses. All Adobe Generation courses are taught in English.

Can teachers join the Adobe Generation course?

Absolutely, we've already had a number of teachers take the Adobe Generation Games Design course, and they said it was great CPD.

Can teachers copy the Adobe Generation curriculum for use in the classroom?

No, the Adobe Generation curriculum & online resources cannot be copied and used directly in the classroom. If you want to teach Adobe products in your school Adobe have a number of free curriculum resources available on the Adobe Education Exchange www.adobe.com/go/aeeuk
